PINTEREST: PIN IT!
This is definitely one of my favorite web tools
before entering this course. I used to look and pin photos more about
do-it-yourself (DIY) crafts, drawings, hairstyles and food escapades. However,
I just found out that Pinterest would also be a great web tool into the
dimension of educational technology.
Pinterest is a
web tool that handles photo sharing. Viewers have the chance to find photos of
their interests and showcase their own visual content by uploading their own
images. Pinterest has a high visual engagement that has several categories to
look upon with its particular topics and subtopics for better searching.
Pinterest is free and very convenient to use. For newbies,
you may register an account or sign up through your social media network such
as Facebook. If we are to use Pinterest in a classroom set-up, students may use
this site to search for, share and gather visual information that they can
apply at their school projects and at home. Teachers may also discover a lot of
educational content that may be used for classroom discussions. Pinterest has a
lot of ideas to browse on such as recipes, quotes, photography, travel
destinations, landmarks, and a lot more to mention. Users may ‘pin’ photos from
other websites especially if you install Pinterest as one of your extensions.
These pinned photos will be shown on your ‘pinboard’ or dashboard.
However, users may experience difficulty in
navigating while using this web tool. Just like other web tools, secure
internet connection is a must to enjoy browsing. Pinterest, just like what
we’ve said that it contains about almost anything, brings a great risk to young
individuals. In this case, inappropriate images may be viewed such as nudity
and tattoos. Adult supervision, proper orientation and filtering will be good
solutions.

Good Job!
Miss you,

Great board! Suggestion, upload YOUR safety cards from ACA and avail it to people on Pinterest as well. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog on Pinterest Ms. Maria! I agree with one of the downfalls you mentioned. If does expose some images that can be inappropriate to young children. Adult supervision is needed. However, it does give great ideas and I use it to make my lesson more interesting and interactive. Great job!
