Instructional Technology Course Reflection

Instructional Technology Course Reflection When I first took this course and looked at its syllabus, I thought that I already accomplished the same content as a previous course. As weeks progressed, it was a great refresher to revisit basic skills of technology and revisit online platforms that are beneficial for a classroom setting. It also turned out that there are more educational platforms that I haven't explored yet. These new digital resources hooked my interest to discover more of what technology has to offer. I was able to try out new interactive websites aside from what I already know and have been using. During the challenging times in keeping face-to-face student engagement, the significance of technology became the reigning glory of this era. Education relied so much on the power of technology to keep its goal of "students first." Teachers then became more innovative and creative to keep student engagement no matter the distance. Courses like these are definit...

An Optimistic Approach of Technology on Education

An Optimistic Approach to Technology on Education "Technology is important because it creates the future. We're able to be a part of the "next" and create things that don't exist." - MC Hammer Education has evolved massively from its traditional ways of teaching. The world of technology opened a door to countless opportunities that are beneficial in this profession. From chalkboards and papers to online presentations and digital worksheets, technology has a lot more to offer. Here are the following ways technology has improved the way students are educated. 1. Improves access to a wide range of informational background Students and teachers have easy access to a variety of online resources. They can research information that is legit and up-to-date from trusted sources online. There are also ready-made templates on educational platforms that educators can use for classroom instruction. 2. Enhances communication Technology is a bridge that connects one ano...

Product and Collaboration Applications

Image
Hurrah! It's the 4th week of Instructional Technology and I have about 1 week left to complete this course. In this week, I learned and explored more product and collaboration applications that I can use in my profession. I find it interesting to compare each product from each other and give my thoughts on what I could use best with my students. I could also share this comparison chart with my colleagues and have them try the applications at their own pace. What intrigued me the most are the different virtual whiteboards that I could use. I haven't used any of them before, so I am excited to use them with my students. I normally use the whiteboard tool on BlackBoard Ultra for remote learning, but it's hard to monitor students when they start writing/drawing randomly. Since these applications look more student-friendly, I'll give them a shot. I tried using Mindomo and Padlet before. Coggle is new tool for me, so I'll definitely give it a try. When I browsed its platf...

Instructional Technology Course Reflection

As a teacher, I need to attend Professional Developments to improve my personal and professional growth. Also, CNMI Public School System, our school district, requires to complete certain courses to upgrade our teaching certification. With that being said, Instructional Technology is one of the courses that I need to complete to earn a standard teaching certification. However, I consider this as a refresher course to revisit amazing digital tools, discover new instructional tools, and deeply learn more of it especially if there are upgraded features on the tools that I have been using. Most of the contents of this course is similar to the Educational Technology (EdTech) that I've taken before when I first started working on this profession. It's currently our 2nd week out of the five-week timeframe for this course. What I've learned so far on Week 1 are Basic Computer Terminology and Skills, e-Safety reflection, screen casting, converting file formats, and shortening URLs...

Oh My BLOG! What is this?!

Image
WHAT IS A A blog is a short-term word for "web log" which is an online journal owned by an individual. It's usually a record of personal thoughts and experiences that you put in the internet for other people to read. The purpose of a blog is to post an individual's view online through a conversational style by updated journal entries, comments from the viewers and cited hyperlinks. A blog usually reflects the personality of the author. It hereby offers information either factual or opinionated and promotions. As a classroom teacher, I am able to open up certain issues and share wonderful ideas that can be fruitful for my audience such as my students, colleagues, students' parents, and other educators. This also persuades my audience to share their opinions through blog comments and may inspire them to create their own blog in the future. I can also use this platform to gain advice from fellow bloggers to enhance more strategic schemes that I can apply in my posi...
