Google Applications in Education
Google Applications in Education offers various tools and features that foster collaboration, communication, flexibility, accessibility, organization, and engagement in the educational environment while providing a cost-effective and user-friendly suite of tools for both students and educators. As a teacher leader, one way to use this powerful platform is to encourage collaborative lesson planning, curriculum development, or the creation of teaching resources. This allows real-time collaborations and feedback from multiple colleagues.
Throughout this course, I explored different Google applications that I can integrate into my classroom instruction. Reviewing each tool's existing features and discovering its new features was a great refresher.
In Week 1, I learned more about Google Mail, Calendar, Keep, and Tasks. I learned new things: creating an email signature using WiseStamp, subscribing to my colleagues' calendars, exploring the advanced search bar setting in Gmail, creating notes through Google Keep, and adding a checklist or side notes on existing Google Apps documents using Google Tasks.

In the following weeks, I revisited how to utilize Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Sheets more efficiently. Here are ways to use these tools in our profession as educators. You can also view this information on my Google Apps for Education Google Slides presentation.

Additionally, Google Maps and Google Earth are more than just a map. Its features allow you to explore places at a 360-degree angle in your seats. It has different views to look into, which is an essential tool to navigate while learning Geography. It can also track your current location, compute a route, commute duration, and distance from point A to point B. It was also easy to search for images using Google Images. Its Reverse Image Search feature can return source websites where the image can be found and surface visually similar images.
Lastly, the final week of this course covered Google Sites and Blogger. I tried using these tools before that served as my professional website and digital portfolio. I want to learn more about the customizing tools that can help me improve the visuals and structure of my existing website and blog.
Overall, Google has a complete educational tool package that makes an educator's life more convenient and efficient. Thank you to our Department of Instructional Technology & Distance Education and EdTech instructors. I enjoyed collaborating with fellow educators in this course. Technology has been rapidly evolving, so joining EdTech Cohort 12 this year was an excellent opportunity since I joined Cohort 4 in 2016.
